FYE's new price point for CDs—including catalog titles like Appetite For Destruction—is apparently $19.99. Seriously, the "cockroaches crawling around after the apocalypse" analogy has never been more apt. [The Velvet Rope]

Wow, just... wow.
They're just plain too dumb to survive. Although I guess you could say that about the cockroaches, too...
Seriously, who runs that company that thinks people will pay this?
Last weekend a friend and I were looking through FYE's 10 for $10 tape section and found a Coup cassette that had an $11.99 price tag on it. We joked that when we got up to the register it would read $11.99. The look on his face when it did was classic. The girl at the register changed it to .99 cents, but it was still dang funny.
As an aside, all comic books at my FYE are 50 cents. There's your bargain!
Every time I see the FYE logo, I think: Pork Council.
Good LORD. I guess they figure they may as well ass-rape the customers while they can still get any money at all, right?
Count me among those stupid enough to have bought one of those Fye frequent-buyer cards to hang on my keyring. The discounts BARELY offset this new price increase. I won't be renewing this thing. Fye IS the only music-store within five miles of me, though.
Meanwhile, I discovered that a new Barnes and Noble on the far reaches of the suburbs has a vast music section, with everything from indies to old classical and jazz. And cheaper than Fye, too! (Extra gasoline not included...)
