Hey, you need more social networking in your life, right? Well why not join us—yes, that's right, you can now be Idolator's Facebook friend! I promise that you won't get spammed with invitations to bite zombies, eat ice cream for any sort of cause, or plant one of those lil green patch thingys. [Facebook]

The Twilight soundtrack, which brings Paramore together with Iron & Wine for maybe the first time ever, held its own in its second week on the Billboard 200, selling 107,000 copies and coming in at No. 5 on the big board. Its attached movie opens this Friday. Will we actually see a very-rare third-week bounce in album sales? Will seven days of Twilight numbers outdraw W. Axl Rose's Sunday sales? Time will tell, but in case you're still as confused about the blood-sucking phenomenon as I still am, Idolator's parent company has put together a huge package on the YA sensation-turned-teen flick. Sunday night marks the end of an era for MTV: It's the last episode of TRL, featuring cameos by Carson Daly, Justin Timberlake, and other pop-music luminaries. I figure that even though I don't think the show has shown a video in its entirety since sometime in mid-2005, I won't be the only member of the Idolator community watching. So won't you join me for a liveblog? Festivities start at 8 p.m. ET, and there's even an America's Next Top Model marathon preceding it so your brain can get into a properly putty-like state. [TRL]

Gone Fishin'

Well, not "fishing," really, but writing a headline that said something like "Gone having a bad reaction to some lunchtime sushi" isn't as snappy, you know? So I'm going to be away from the blog for a couple of hours while I get myself sorted, but please enjoy the above video, which pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now. Oh, also, there are 30-second samples of Britney Spears' Circus. In particular, check out "If You Seek Amy," which is apparently Max Martin's attempt to give our Brit Brit her own "I Kissed A Girl." Just check out this lyric: "All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy." Get it????? I can already hear the parental outrage. OK, back later! [YouTube]

Last year around this time, we sent Kate to the mtvU Woodies because a) she's freaking hilarious b) Rilo Kiley was playing and c) she was the only staff member who could actually get the channel, which at the time was exclusively beamed into America's dorms. (But mostly "a.") Thanks to the expansion of the digital-cable universe, mtvU is available on off-campus cable systems these days (what's up, Fios at my parents' house!), so you can get ready for what you're going to see next Wednesday night this evening, when we send Kate to liveblog the whole affair once again. Come back at 8 p.m. ET! Musical guests include the artist formerly known as Santogold (she goes by "Santi" now), Lykke Li, and Vampire Weekend with Chromeo, which oh boy that should be something. Win Fall Out Boy Tickets

Idolator is giving away tickets to stops on Fall Out Boy's club tour, which is winding around the country all this month. First up are this week's shows in Boston (Harper's Ferry, Nov. 6) and Philadelphia (North Star Bar, Nov. 7). To enter, send an e-mail with your top pick for a victory song (by any artist) to tipsATidolatorDOTcom. One entrant per show will win a pair of spots on the guest list—just make sure that your e-mail's subject line says "FOB Tickets" and whether or not you want to attend the Boston or Philadelphia concert. (Transportation to and from the venues isn't part of the prize.) Contest closes at midnight ET, so get your entries in now!

The latest shirt from Idolator's partnership depicts one of our favorite phrases around here, as you've probably deduced. (And yes, it uses Helvetica.) All proceeds from the shirts go to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund! [Neighborhoodies / All shirts]

The latest offering from Idolator's collaboration with Neighborhoodies should be familiar to anyone who's tried to catch a video after the infringement police have gotten to it: It's YouTube's "This video is no longer available" error message, strategically placed over your own heart. Wear it on those days when you don't feel like spilling your guts, or when you feel like protesting the draconian "embedding-disabled" policies of Universal and Sony. (All proceeds from our shirts go to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund, which works with endangered primates in Africa.) [Neighborhoodies / All shirts]

There are some days when even the most diehard Internet music fan just doesn't feel up to the task of defending her most treasured songs while simultaneously arguing against the merits of her least favorite albums. Our newest shirt to come out of our partnership with Neighborhoodies is expressly designed for those times, so you can give people perspective without typing a single word. (Although you might have to turn on your Webcam.) Wear it with sweatpants and turn up the Michael Jackson for the ultimate "leave me alone" gesture. (Proceeds from this shirt, and all the shirts we'll be rolling out this week, will go to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund, which works with endangered primates.) [Neighborhoodies / All shirts]

Some of our readers have said, in the wake of a pithy phrase showing up on the site somewhere, "That should be a shirt." Well, a few of those instances may have been jokes, but we're happy to announce that we're turning some of those dreams into reality, thanks to a partnership with the roll-your-own-tee site Neighborhoodies. First up: "Corporate Rock Still Sells," an homage to both Al Shipley's column and the late Kurt Cobain's taste in magazine-cover wear. All proceeds from the shirts will go to the Cameroon WIldlife Aid Fund, which works with endangered primates, and more shirts will be rolled out as the week goes on! [Neighborhoodies]

Our "Make Your Own Killers Cover Art" contest rages on through next Thursday, so if you have time over the weekend and a rudimentary knowledge of Photoshop, you should give it a go and enter! Also, just so you know what you'll be up against, the first entry we received used a picture of me as its backdrop. Yes, really. [Details]

Blah Blah Blah If you have time to kill and a broadband connection and an unexplained desire to hear me spout off even more than I already do, why not watch these panels that IFC.com presented on the future of music journalism, the meaning(lessness?) of "indie," and music-discovery sites? To further entice you into clicking, I will tell you that they are hosted by former Subterranean VJ Jim Shearer and feature such luminaries as Ryan Schreiber of Pitchfork, Michael Azerrad, and the dude who created Muxtape. (OK, I'm going to go hide in the corner now.) [IFC.com]

Folie A Tech

It would seem that every time the seasons change, so too does Idolator have various problems where readers are getting "404 not found" errors, blank pages, or other roadblocks to their browsing. If this happens to you, could you please (please, please) drop me an e-mail with 1) the nature of your problem; 2) what operating system you're using (with version number); 3) what browser you're using (with version number); and 4) whether or not the problem is restricted to one browser on your machine, or if it's systemwide (for example, if you're getting 404s in both Firefox and Safari). Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hey everybody! The issue we had last week where comments on posts don't show up after the 100th one—despite bits of discussion being submitted to and accepted by our system—seems to be plaguing us still, which is why your post on the sacred cow thread might not be showing up. If you notice any other problems with comments, please, please e-mail me (mauraATidolatorDOTcom) and let me know your browser (with version number), operating system, and where you experienced the problem. Thank you! (And feel free to continue the discussion here...)

Since MTV's Video Music Awards-related Twitter feed has lain dormant for the past seven months, I've decided to pick up the slack—and get you all ready for our liveblog, which starts at 8 p.m. ET— by updating Idolator's account on the microblogging service with notes from the red carpet. Whether or not AT&T's network will look kindly on this experiment in liver-the-liveblogging is up in the air, but hey, that's part of the fun of "experimentation," right? [Twitter]

The Video Music Awards: They're Coming! Get Ready!

We have about 52ish hours until Britney Spears trades on her recent notoriety to open the 25th-anniversary installment of MTV's Video Music Awards, and like last year, you are all invited to watch with Idolator as we break down the goings-on—and, maybe, break down—in real time. So do come back at 8 p.m. ET for the pregame show and the live broadcast, which starts at 9! Sadly, I will not be handling live-blogging duties as a) I was only given a red-carpet pass, and not access to watch the broadcast being simulcast; and b) even if I did high-tail it back to my hotel room really really fast, the damn thing doesn't air on the West Coast until 9 p.m. PT. But I've handed over the task to someone who's more than capable: Our own Dickdogfood, who pioneered the art of the MTV liveblog all the way back in 2001, which is like forever ago in Internet time. Reaching Out A friendly, adorably outfitted pre-weekend reminder: If you haven't had a chance to take our reader survey yet, please take a minute from your day to do so. Think of the pictures of cute animals that I'm pairing with each of these pleas as a pre-emptive "thank you," OK? [SurveyMonkey / Photo: AP]

Idolator's chart guru Chris Molanphy is taking time out of his vacation to chat with the fine people at WNYC's Soundcheck this afternoon. He'll be on at around 2:15 p.m. ET and sharing his thoughts the Billboard Hot 100's 50th anniversary. (For those of you who are getting to this late, don't worry: Soundcheck archives past episodes online.) [WNYC]
