Greetings, readers. Brian here. Just wanted to let you know that June will be my last month at Idolator. I've loved working on the site for the past 17 years eight months, but I have a book due next spring, and I need spend more time working on that, and less time rehashing jokes about Satellite Party.
More announcements soon; in the meantime, Maura will steer the ship, and it looks as though we'll be adding some new staffers. If you're interested in a full-time editing position, send a couple of paragraphs about yourself that explain why you want to work for Idolator—along with any blog/internet story links and your Idolator commenter page link—to jobs@idolator.com. No résumés, please.
And I'll be here the rest of the month, so expect a non-stop surge of power-pop and D.C.-rock MP3s, as well as some worse-than-usual headline puns (though I'm doubtful I'll ever be able to top this one).

Sorry to see you go Brian.
Thanks for pulling the boat out of dock and driving it so expertly, Brian. You have a lot to be proud of - a lot accomplished here in eight short months!
This is like my parents divorcing, like they never did, and I bet no one's going to teach me to ski now, either.
Godspeed!
Great work, Brian. You'll be missed. Especially if there's less power-pop showing up on the site...
Thanks for the laughs and Sugababes posts MP3s Brian. Sad to see you go, but good luck on your book!
don't forget to come back and plug your book.
You will certainly be missed, Mr. Raftery. But I'm looking forward to the hair metal post ratio to balloon in the near future!
Next to last summer's Sleater-Kinney split, this is the second-saddest June breakup announcement I've seen.
This sucks. Next you're going to tell me that Chinese Democracy isn't really coming out this year.
Good luck, Brian. You've done a great job here.
Satellite Party will always be there for you. Best of luck!
@brasstax: I will second that motion!
Good luck, Brian. See you in the pages of Spin.
No one reads books anymore! You might as well put on community theater productions of the H.M.S. Pinafore.
quitter.
Don't be a stranger, Bri.
And give yerself a well-deserved pat on the back for having made it out without slipping down into that black black self-loathing "Shark Bar" alcoholism that Balk slipped into after mere days of starting at Gawker Media.
Damn, who's to remind us how wonderful Jellyfish is? Good luck to you, I've been tracing your bylines for quite a while, and look forward to many more.
@katesilver: I think Maura is equally qualified for Jellyfish adulation, thankfully.
Sincerity is hard to pull off in a comments section, but best of luck, Brian.
You reignited my love affair with the pun, and for that I'll always be grateful. It's been fun having you around.
I will miss, most of all, the insights of Weasel, The Puppy Born Without Ears.
Good luck, Brian!

Oh, Brian, you will be missed. Best of luck with the book!
What, a whole comments section and not one shred of hate? Oh, OK, fine-I'll miss Brian too.
Go away for an afternoon and see what I miss.
Well, good for you for pulling off what I never could (taking time off to write and actually finishing a book). You showed good taste, restraint and humor in what must be a thankless task of writing daily about popular music. Actually... I'm envious of you. Good riddance. Fucker.
"I will miss, most of all, the insights of Weasel, The Puppy Born Without Ears."
Wha? This means no more Weasel?! Nooooo! Dammit.
Weasel will comment when current events require his approval/disapproval.
And thanks, nice people!
