After a year of sifting through nominees, Idolator is proud to announce its Worst Album Cover Of The Year Tournament, which looks back on the worst crimes against aesthetics, Photoshop filters, and peoples' fields of vision committed over the past 12ish months. We narrowed all the covers down to 32, and this week and next will be the tournament's opening round, with two cover-vs.-cover polls a day from now until Dec. 12.
The 32 covers have been divided into four brackets: the We Aren't The World bracket (hat tip to Gerard Cosloy for inspiring the name); the Photoshop Crimes bracket; the Anatomically Incorrect bracket; and the Southeast bracket (that one's for all of the lousy covers that didn't fit anywhere else). We open with the No. 1 seed and the No. 8 seed in the We Aren't The World bracket, which could be seen as something of a pair):

I just never imagined that Ted could care for cancer...
So is the limited edition cover of "Love Grenade" featured as a separate entrant?
@Charlie Kerfelds Jetsons Tee: Yes.
@maura: I wonder if a "Love Grenade" v. "Love Grenade" (limited edition) matchup is possible in the finals...
This is going to get good.
Even though the Nuge's cover is clearly worse, I voted for Queensryche just because the limited edition Nuge cover is just so, so, so much worse.
Where's Gina Gershon?
In case it hasn't already been mentioned around here, the ultimate review of "Love Grenade" is here:

love grenade?
shit sandwich.
i just still don't get that nuge cover? is he against breast cancer research? or did he get mixed up and think that ribbon symbolized the gays (whom i find it much more likely for him to be against)?
The Nuge wins this time - his mixed message recalls the old "We had to destroy the village in order to save it" tough-love of 'Nam. However, it's nowhere near as ill as the cover of "Weekend Warriors" [www.discogs.com]
@iantenna: I could see the Nuge being vociferously anti-mastectomy.
