In a quest to give hyped-up Internet bands a hyped-up trans-fat coronaries, "50 up-and-coming bands were named to receive $500 in free Fourthmeals" thanks to Taco Bell's "Feed The Beat" contest. Mostly the list is made up of generic mall emo and false metal, but there were a few names that stood out for their...extreme blogginess:

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
Blitzen Trapper
That's like its own CMJ showcase! As disgusting as I find the "Fourthmeal" concept, no hating, because everybody's gotta eat, but someone really should tell the Bell that poor Ted Leo will have to stick to his regular ol' three squares a day.

Mother 13 is pissed.
I talked to White Rabbits about being a part of this last weekend. They said they were on their fourth TB stop of the tour and some of the band members were pretty stoked about it while others had indigestion every time and were probably dunzo with the fourthmeal. The thing they liked is that they weren't tied to Taco Bell at all...they applied, got the $500 in vouchers and were included in the press release...other than that, they were free and clear.

I'll totally take Ted's shares. Once in a while, that craving for 8 tacos just hits you.
Someone should tell Ted Leo he's a veggie; apparently he auditioned to receive the meals. Maybe he's a massive Baja Blast junkie?
