Pay close attention to this Saturday Night Live performance by Linkin Park, because around the 50-second mark, you can actually witness the last sad death-moan of rap-rock: As the rest of the band members try to pretend that they're not playing a fourth-tier 3 Doors Down song, the DJ throws in a few "hey, remember when we used to do this?" scratches. It's almost adorable—like the Rottweiler that refuses to stop piddling on the neighbor's petunias, for old time's sake.

...and of these years, I just assumed it would be Fred Durst who would be charged with the premeditated murder of Rap-Rock.
Sadder than the expiration of this antiquated genre, are the legions of dead-horse beaters who will blast this 'song' from their car stereos this summer.
Watch them sell over a million copies of Minutes to Midnight this week.
I wish I could find comfort by telling myself I hated this stuff when it first came out, having recognized how shallow it's Reese's Peanut Butter Cup-style premise was ("You got rock in my rap!" "You got rap in my rock!") and, in Linkin Park's case, how the whiny, snivelling lyrics resembled nothing so much as the diary entries of an overly melodramatic thirteen-year-old girl. But as the legions of American dunderheads continue to flock to Wal-Mart and plunk down their $17 for this crap as lemmings to the sea, well, it's a mighty cold comfort indeed.

Maybe the MTV Mashup project was cursed? The only recent superstar album duller than this one's gonna be was Jigga's.
Does any one else think the opening to this song is a huge rip-off of the original Halloween theme? Both the melody and the bass notes on the piano totally leapt out at me as being derivative of Carpenter's score.
Making fun of Linkin Park is too easy. It's almost unfair.

their new logo reminds me of The Strokes....in fact so does the lead singer's jacket.

@Tenno: I think their new logo uses the same font as Radar magazine's masthead, so it makes me think of that snarky, überhip, very un-Linkin Park publication.
