Videodrone: Mel C Wants A Ska Revival, Not A Spice Girls Reunion
When we heard that Melanie C was ambivalent about the prospect of the Spice Girls getting back together, we figured she had something amazing up her sleeve—or, at the very least, a song that was as danceable as "I Turn To You." Instead, she's back with a bloodless cover of "I Want Candy" that appears to have been inspired not as much by Bow Wow Wow's take on the song as by her stash of Mighty Mighty Bosstones cassettes. Surely having to endure Victoria Beckham's stories about pouting in unison with Katie Holmes for a cover shoot can't be this dire, can it?

"Just make me hair look like tha' Cat Power girrl, alreet?"
PLUS, bonus random bile spewed at the Posh blog:
"It was hard work and we had to put in allot of time preparing for it"
Not just content to drop the "alot" bomb, VB adds an extra L. Or mayhap it's a pound sign?
Why does she have the bangs of a seven year old? You know, the bangs all kids had that started at the top of our heads.
This starts out just like Bowie's "Modern Love."
So, would this be "fourth wave" ska, or fifth? I don't think thatI missed a 4th installment of the corruption of Jamaican speak-easy music, but I might have.
I don't hate it. Always kinda had a soft spot for her. Random YouTube comment: "I like the trumpets. What's with the lezzie lyrics? I prefer the Bow Wow Wow lyrics."
*sigh*
@Al aka El Negro Magnifico: When will you learn: NEVER read comments on YouTube. If you do, any pain felt to your sanity is on your own head.
I'm sorry, can we combine MORE dated pop touchstones? Maybe in her next video, Sporty will be sporting a condom in the left eye of her glasses.
