Videodrone: Mistah F.A.B. Ain't Afraid Of No "Ghostbusters" Fans

Forgive us for our second Ghostbusters-related post this week, but we just came around to hearing "Ghost Ride It," Mistah F.A.B.'s Ray Parker Jr.-sampling ode to hood-surfing driverless cars. (Oh Word posted a brief history of Fab's career earlier this week.) The video is full of references to the 1984 film (there's even an Ecto-1 replica), and as you might expect, the reaction from the Ghostbusters message board has been fierce:

Heck, maybe people think the Proton Packs should be worn the wrong way up given how he wore them in the photographs...
All: I saw those upside down proton pack pictures on Proptopia. I sat here in disbelief. Maybe I shouldn't have considering the song/video in the first place. You would think it would be obvious on how to wear a prop proton pack. Even if they didn't, play the DVD. Or use the scene selection. Damn, didn't they watch Ghostbusters at all before ripping it off?
My Goodness, this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Ray I mean, its cool to see GB get publicity in one form or another, but this is just pathetic. Those hop-hopping goons are f*cking pathetic. Wearing upside down packs? Climbing atop the Ecto-1? Pasting some lame-ass logo OVER the original???? That's crazy!

There's more (seven pages), and it has its predictable moments of "wahh, rap is scary" whining, but overall, its tone can probably be summed up by the following factoid: That last quote's chagrin is illustrated further by an emoticon of Dr. Ray Stantz—the animated version—shaking his head.

  • wow, usually only white people do stuff this stupid! standing on a moving-but-unmanned vehicle? brilliant!

it's only a matter of time before car insurance rates become so high no one can afford them, because driverless vehicles plow into other cars and people. and when white kids in the burbs catch on to this trend, LOOK OUT!!

don't put up any LED signs of cartoon characters, though. that shit will land you in jail.

  • Wait, whuh? There's a Ghostbusters message board?
