  • Bummer. The Spider was a great little place.

  • i hold the lime spider in high regard, even though i have never been there.
akron has historically been a rough place to do a proper "touring" rock club in. cleveland gets the first-run, first leg of tour acts. akron, if it is lucky, gets the second leg, secondary market dates.

i live in cleveland and have been involved with the parish hall.
they have been trying to follow in the groundbreaking and ,really, totally fucking formidable footsteps of the late great speak in tongues.
music, art, art as music. etc.
i cast my hat to the parish hall clockworkers: ryan weitzel, stephe dk, tom, paul, and tom....
great fucking run but hell arent we getting too old for this...
let the fire burn and to whoever grabs that torch be careful...
exitstencil recordings and the assorted bands who called the basement of the parish hall home will survive: roue, mystery of two, new lou reeds, dreadful yawns, hamas, home and garden, henry james, proletarian art threat, etc....

  • This is so upsetting, so very upsetting. The Lime Spider is not only a great little venue, but a fantastic place just to hang out and enjoy a beer on the roof. Truly depressing news, I mean relatively speaking.

Maybe Chrissie Hynde can step in and save the place, on the heels of opening her new restaurant in downtown Akron. It's within walking distance; it's the least she can do if she wants her city to remain. Way to go, Ohio.

  • And if they're losing shows and money to the Beachland, which has its own struggles, things are really bad.
