Those of you pumped up to see the Happy Mondays at Coachella on Sunday night are about to have your melons twisted—Bez, the band's maraca-wielding mascot, has been barred from entering the U.S.:
A statement released by the band said: "Due to tightening immigration and working visa legislation, Bez was not, unfortunately, able to secure a visa to perform at Coachella this weekend.
"Happy Mondays apologise to all their US fans that they will not, on this occasion, be able to enjoy the spectacle of Bez shaking his stuff for them at Coachella."
Terrible news, innit? Let's hope this doesn't result in Shaun Ryder becoming so despondent that he decides to only play songs from later-period Black Grape.

I'm sure it's been seen before by many, but I really just couldn't resist.
That's it. I'm not going.
Maybe they can get Cressa?
@Jude: That's the best anti-drug PSA I've ever seen. The US should reconsider and bring him in solo for a college campus tour: 90 minutes of Bez, alone on stage, no script.
Couldn't they just use that dude from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones? I'm sure he's got a lot of time on his hands.
I always thought that ODB should've done a cover of "Kinky Afro."
@MConnor: Or the guy from the Prodigy.
Come to think of it, why couldn't we mount a tour with all three guys - Bez, Bosstones dude and Prodigy dude - and call it the You Sing, We Dance tour?
@dennisobell: But did the Bosstone or the Prodigy dude win Celebrity Big Brother 3? No, they did not.
Would Professor Griff fit the criteria?
@Pop Cesspool: I think any of the S1Ws would.
@MConnor: Do they still wear those militaristic Hammer pants? Or have they updated their gear for the post-9/11 era?
@Pop Cesspool: Much like the Brown Shirts in the Night of the Long Knives, I'm not sure if the S1Ws survived the initial purging of Professor Griff. The First World has probably since been left insecure.
This article didn't mention anything about any new uniforms during a recall to duty.
