Welcome to another installment of The Cover-Song Showcase Showdown, in which we pit three versions of the same beloved song against one another, and let you determine which is superior. Today's homage-inspiring entry is the Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra's 1967 classic "Some Velvet Morning," a song about flowers, dragonflies and some woman named Phaedra.
Anyhoo, three different takes on "Morning" are below; take a listen and vote for your favorite. And fellas, be warned: Voting for the Kate Moss version does not automatically mean she will sleep with you.
Primal Scream w/ Kate Moss - Some Velvet Morning [MP3, link expired]
Slowdive - Some Velvet Morning [MP3, link expired]
Lydia Lunch - Some Velvet Morning [MP3, link expired]

The Primal Scream track would be a decent instrumental, but Kate Moss sounds like Joan Jett with laryngitis. Or like a Tri Delt singing into a brush in the sorority house bathroom, imitating Joan Jett with laryngitis.
The Slowdive is good as well, but Lydia Lunch always wins the award in the batshit weird category. The singing on the verse sounds like Divine getting a prostate exam.
Can I anti-vote for the Primal Scream one and let the others tie?
Also, there's at least one good black metal cover version from the mid-nineties I've heard...
I think whenver you combine Kate Moss with music, you get a trainwreck. Look at how things are with her (ex?) boyfriend.
I vote for Firewater with Britta Phillips...really spooky and lovely duet.
Forget this - if we're doing songs by Nancy S., why not compare versions of "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)"? Nancy vs. Cher vs. Vanilla Fudge vs. Petula Clark vs. Jack White?
Note to Kate Moss: Doing lines does not automatically make you a rock superstar.
seeing as it's a duet, shouldn't you acknowledge rowland s. howard as lydia lunch's singing partner, as he's clearly credited on the record itself?
The Vanilla Fudge version of "Velvet" is sweet!!
