A Billy Joel concert may serve as the closing event for New York City's Shea Stadium, which is shutting its ugly-ass gates after the 2008 season. Yes, that's right: A concert by a famed Yankees fan will allegedly serve as the final event at the Mets' longtime home. I can understand wanting to squeeze dollars out of the Billy Joel faithful who live east of the Queens border, but come on, guys. What's next, appointing Rudy Giuliani as special guest MC? Are there any famous Mets fans?
@Lucas Jensen: Oh you hush.
SACRILAGE!! Jerry Seinfeld is a famous Mets fan. They should have him do standup. That would be classic.
Hmm...first a Fiddy/Kanye post on Deadspin this AM, now a Shea Stadium post here. I'm calling shenanigans!!!
Nice t-shirt and thumbs up on Billy, there!
Chuck D is a Mets fan, if I remember right. Have him be the last show at Shea. Fight the power.
Oh boy Maura, I bet you are going to be there front row center.
P.S. Am I the only (former) Mets fan who actually likes Shea Stadium?
