Thanks to the tipster who sent us this cameraphone shot of the sign that was once outside New York's Irving Plaza, which was felled to make way for
the most dubious bit of rebranding since Jefferson Starship chopped off the first half of its name. Remember, everyone: Next year, you cant cant say, "I went to Irving Plaza last night for the PLUG Awards, and man, did they suck!" You have to say, "I went to The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza last night for the PLUG Awards, and man, did they suck!"

So, here's something a little weird: The Fillmore New York's bar areas are apparently going to be taken over by celebrichef Wolfgang Puck's catering company in the next few weeks, and sometime in the next two months a full-on food menu will be added to the array of overpriced cocktails available there now. I'm guessing this move is more of a way for Live Nation to augment its revenue streams and not so much a response to consumer demand, since I don't think I have ever been at a smallish club show where people have said to me, "God, you know what I wish I had right now? A reheated pizza just like the ones you can get at JFK." [Eater]
