Pussycat Dolls leader Nicole Scherzinger's more-doomed-by-the-day Her Name Is Nicole has been pushed back once again, this time from Nov. 6 to Nov. 20. And: One of the new tracks on it features Sting. The odds on this thing completely tanking just shot up faster than you can say Studio 60. [Rap-Up]

  • You know, I saw this chick on the MTV awards and she did well. She danced, sang and was sexy but the only thing I kept thinking was that she was too old for her target demo. Just sayin'.

  • Her album comes out on the same day as my band's next album. This cannot be a good omen for us.

  • A good starting point might be to switch up that album cover shot in favor something more confident and in-charge and less frightened-Nicaraguan-child- prostitute-presenting-to-rich-American-businessman.

  • Nicole Scherzinger has already been in Eden's Crush and the Pussycat Dolls, recorded a single or two under the name Nicole Kea and toured as a backing vocalist for freaking Days of the New (seriously; check allMusic). She's almost 30, and it looks like she's had at least three chances. When do we just go ahead and declare her an also-ran? What's next; career updates on Willa Ford and Anastacia?

  • @MrStarhead: Valid points all, sir. Nevertheless, she can still sing as well as anyone else in the pop/R&B/dance genre she's in, and she's proven she can make videos sexy enough that they will help sell records -- if the records are good enough. Her success with the Dolls -- really, her commercial breakthrough, and her only success to date -- is probably what's given her one last chance at Beyonce/Fergie-level stardom. And if few others are selling much of anything right now, the label probably is thinking, "why not try Nicole?"

Either that or [rumors about affair with Jimmy Iovine blah blah etc. etc...]

Apropos of nothing, I'm still stunned by how weak the market has been in Nicole's genre this year, especially for the female artists. Records from Nicole, Mya, and Amerie are all lingering somewhere between the hard drive and the warehouse. Only Rihanna has been able to catch fire this year, while Fergie has hung steady around the top 20 with a year-old record. For people who like this genre [ahem, me], this is very sad.
