I was all set to make a joke about Lily Allen becoming the Rachael Ray of reggae-tinged pop—complete with annoying public persona and "classy" underwear spreads—but apparently she won't be the face of lingerie line Agent Provocateur after all, with the company instead selecting French actress Vahina Giocante as its next body/face. However, she will be in the public eye via her own TV show on BBC3 next year, and it'll be based on the slightly passé social-networking service that supposedly "broke" her career way back when she was just some famous dude's daughter who liked to make mixtapes:
Lily Allen and Friends, which is set to air early next year, will be based on the social networking phenomenon that helped launch her career.
Viewers will shape the show online by becoming her virtual friends and contributing to topical discussions, putting questions to guests and even presenting parts of the show.
The audience will consist entirely of Allen's online friends, who will also have exclusive access to behind-the-scenes footage of the show and will be able to sign up to have highlights sent directly to their mobile phones.
The show will feature celebrity guests, topical people from the online world, bands and unsigned acts chosen by members of the Allen network.
A Lilly Allen and Friends website will give each member a profile from which they can access and comment on the show, while it will also follow the progress of the new music acts showcased on the programme.
An audience full of her "friends"! That sounds so sweet. And it sure will take out the possibility of people rolling their eyes when she goes off on blog rants about how she feels fat, ugly, and shittier than Amy Winehouse, although it's too bad that she won't be able to do the "Webcam from bed" thing with her brand-new platform.

Wasn't it "shitter than Amy Winehouse"? I remember it clearly because that phrase is pretty much the only thing she's ever said or done that I've been entertained by.
She needs to hurry up and release her sophomore album so we can all go ahead and forget about her.
