We've been hearing reports about the Hold Steady's Monday night show in Boston, which was apparently notable because the opening act, fellow Minnesota natives Sean Na Na, wouldn't get off the stage—not even while the Hold Steady was playing. The blogger at Random Musings has a full-on rundown. Among the highlights:
Sean Na Na had been asking for shots during their set and the 5 guys were pretty well off when all was said and done. The guitar player just started walking around the stage..singing various parts..drinking..asking for stuff..you name it.
They all join in on backing vocals for songs. The guitar player takes off his shirt and rolls on the floor, each member takes at LEAST 1,000 flash photos.
The band comes back out on stage and the same shit continues. The singer from Sean Na Na arrives with Craigs glasses on saying he is "Craig" and "how awesome was Sean Na Na".
Yeesh. Too Much Rock has video of what appears to be a portion of the Sean Na Na invasion, while the Sean Na Na haterade is a-flowing on the Hold Steady's message board.

Hahaha, Hold Steady fans hating things.
Speaking of opening acts; what's fucked up is that Placebo opened up for She Wants Revenge here in SF. Talk about backwards. Plus that meant the 13 year old girls had to miss their curfews.
Like we need another reason to hate Har Mar Superstar.
I saw this tour when they were in SoCal, and some of the Sean Na Na boys were wasted throughout their set, but it was only the big bearded bassist who got up during the Hold Steady set to sing with the vaudevillian keyboard player. But, luckily, Har Mar was only shirtless AFTER his set, not during it.
I saw this show, and there was a whole lotta drunkin' going on. People can slag on Sean Na Na, but it should also be noted that The Hold Steady, or at least Mssrs. Kubler and Finn, were also tanked to the gills. They were still fun as hell to watch tho.
