The invite to the holiday party thrown by two Live Nation-owned venues in New York—the Fillmore and the Blender Theater—that Gawker unearthed today is making me wonder if concertgoers in the NYC metropolitan area should be bracing for ticket prices to go up faster than you can say "convenience charge." See if you can guess why!
It's that time of year again!! This year we will be having a combined celebration for the staff of Fillmore NY at Irving Plaza and Blender Theater at Gramercy. Here's the important info:
When: Friday, December 7, 2007 from 8PM-11PM
Where: Downstairs lounge at Gramercy (127 E. 23rd just in case you didn't know...)
What: Karaoke!! And other good times...
Drinks: BYOB- sorry guys, this is a no-budget party, not to mention you people drank a warehouse worth last year... Seriously, please bring a bottle of your favorite booze or wine or a six pack o beer (or your fave Snapple drink if you don't drink alcohol.)
Snacks: Some will be provided BUT if you feel like baking (Jesse Bellin), we all love treats!!
After Party: TBD (but you know there will be one!!)
I think that about covers it! Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Looking forward to having a cup 'o holiday cheer with all of you!!
A BYOB party that's held at a venue that serves booze—and thrown by that venue, to boot. Yeah, sure, maybe Live Nation spent its party-throwing fund on gobs of dayglo paint, but c'mon, can't the powers that be at least crack open a couple of bottles of Vodka brand vodka that are stored with the well drinks?

"Sorry folks, we broke the bank buying Madonna's soul earlier this year and can't afford to get you all fucked up."
Geez, even my company shells out for everybody to have a couple drinks for free.
Y'know, I probably wouldn't show up. What would make it different from any other day at one of those venues? They should at least let them buy their drinks there, not bring their own booze.
Even worse, AEG is making people bring their iPods so they don't have to pay for a DJ.
The comment at the bottom about AEG making employees bring iPods to the Xmas party to save on a DJ is funny. LYV have cut advertising budgets, office cleaning budgets, catering - so LYV employees cannot eat at shows, no Xmas gifts, parties etc.... and they are STRONG ARMING execs to defer their 2007 bonuses until 2008 - and then will be paid in stock instead of cash....but have thrown out the contractual bonus criteria and now tie it to the company making its target over all numbers based on a new formula. With the stock tanking, how much is Madonna losing from her deal? $7 mm? How much has Michael Cohl lost by selling his company to them and then using the proceeds to buy stock when it was over $20? Millions. All this while Rapino has a new $1mm bonus and a $1 mm salary - but employees cannot eat at shows they are working, have toilet paper replaced in the offices, Xmas parties or get their contractual cash bonuses in the year promised. And they have to sell artists on approx 40% reduced ad budgets... You gotta throw some light on this
tell me more shamu..i was looking at getting a gig at LN....do you work there? if they aren't throwing holiday parties it sounds bad...do you have this info first hand?
Cry babies..
Now that the concert market is tanking along with record sales.. nobody gets a free ride...
Most likely you were one of those people who recieved many undeserved bonuses when the market was high..
