Hey, kids, remember when people said that "rockism" wasn't a real word, or that it shouldn't be used in polite company because it was the same thing as "racist" (which it never was), or that it was meaningless? The Oxford English Dictionary now begs to differ; "rockism," along with nine other neologisms, is now in the venerable institution of official words. The full new word order after the jump.
1. Amp — To make (a person) very excited or energetic (as if) through the consumption of amphetamines or another stimulant. Frequently used with up
2. Beatboxing — The action or practice of imitating the sounds of an electronic drum machine with the voice.
3. Buzzkill — A person who, or thing which, dampens enthusiasm or enjoyment.
4. Chill Pill — An anti-depressant; anything intended to calm a person down (take a chill pill, calm down, relax).
5. Ghetto Fabulous — Pertaining to or favoring an ostentatious style of dress associated with the hip-hop subculture.
6. Monobrow — A pair of eyebrows that meet above the nose, giving the appearance of a single eyebrow; a person with such eyebrows, jocularly — a stupid person.
7. Pimpmobile — A large, flashy car, especially one used by a pimp.
8. Rockism — The theory that traditional rock music is a more authentic form of popular music than pop music.
9. Secret Sauce — A special feature or technique kept secret by an organization and regarded as being the chief factor in its success.
10. Splitsville — The termination of a relationship, especially a romantic one.
Granted, the theory definition isn't nearly as entertaining as "especially one used by a pimp," but we'll take our laffs where we can find them.

No "lamestain"?
I always too "ghetto fabulous" to mean "appearing attractive or admirable on a small budget." I just hope they consult Pimp C personally before minting "trill."
Like "racist," "rockist" often tut-tuts without clarifying. I don't like it. But I guess "pus" is in the dictionary, too.
The "rockists" must be wetting themselves.
Srsly, I'd call this a victory. I look forward to pointing fingers at countless Idolator haters with accepted verbiage to back me up. (Is "hater" in the O.E.D., I wonder?)
C'mon Maura, you post *this* and not my brother's funny Tommy Shaw email that I sent you?
Monobrow? Wasn't that condition already called a unibrow?
uh, Maura didn't post this.
Then I guess its Splitsville!
"Rockist" gets in the dictionary in, what? Five years? Meanwhile "beatboxing" takes 3 decades. Sounds like the ol' OED is a bit "rockist" if you catch my drift.
"rockist" was coined around the same time "beatboxing" was, probably earlier, so no, not quite.
Pete Wylie is usually given as the coiner, so 83-84ish? beatboxing surely a good five years older?
more like 79-80
