Kelly Clarkson's release-date woes may be over—My December, which was shelved, then set for release in late July, is now coming out next month—but she probably isn't making many friends at her label by telling all about how those rumors started:
"Everybody always wants me to go in different directions. Obviously they're a record label so they need to sell records. They want the formula writers and the formula producers that do everybody else's stuff, and while I love some of those people... and I don't mind working with that...I just don't like working with someone that gives you a song and is like, 'Oh, I wrote this for you.' But you find out that they've given it to every other artist and they turned it down, you know?"
Kelly might've been feeling pressure from her label, but she didn't back down.
"My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album. And while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I'm cool with her and I think she sings the song well... it's already been on an album. I don't care what pop star it is."
Well, she might want to care, actually. After all, the Lohan album in question was a huge stinker that allegedy had not one, but two of its singles canceled—which makes the reported complaining about the lack of a "hit" on My December even more curious, unless the executives in question actually sent Clarkson Lohan's take on "Edge Of Seventeen" by accident.

I love that picture. Kelly is like, "I'm just KIDDING, Lindsay!! You know you're awesome!"
Hmm. This makes me want to buy the album in support of her sudden "DIY" street cred.
I wonder which songs from the Lohan album were offered to Kelly -- "If You Were Me" and "Who Loves You" are both surprisingly great and would have sounded quite good sung by Kelly.
Ok, totally loving on KC right now.
can you imagine if kelly had recorded the lindsay song and it turned out so great that all of the indie rockers would have decided to cover it and then we'd have to figure out if they were covering kelly or lindsay and if they meant it or if they were being ironic OR if they were being ironic by actually liking it......
my head hurts.
I'm so in love with KC.
Did I just type that in public? Don't look, y'all. It's a secret!
Wow, go Kelly!
Wonder if any of those songs will now be passed down to Britney's next "album."
Funny - I last the wonderful Last Town Chorus last night (her of the cover of Bowie's "Modern Love" that was featured in Grey's Anatomy) and she started talking about how much she loved Kelly Clarkson, and broke into an impromptu chorus of "Since U Been Gone", and praised the Diane Warren-penned obscure album track "Some Kind of Miracle". Weird.
As for Kelly herself, anyone who praises Patty Griffin as much as she does is alright in my book...
Why is Kelly Clarkson going to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards? (I may be wrong, she may just make an appearance.)
@Hyman Decent: I saw it. She and Reba McEntire performed "Because of You." Apparently it's on Reba's new Duets album, and it's the first single. As if I wasn't over that song from pop radio, now it's going to be on country radio nonstop. Anyway, Kelly sounded great, but Reba makes really weird facial expressions when she sings. I'd much prefer a Kelly/Patty duet.
Given the tone of her first single, I bet "I Live for the Day" would have been a good choice (but it's already Lindsay's best song, and Kelly probably wouldn't be able to take it any further). But in terms of what someone might shop to Kelly, maybe "Who Loves You"?
