Yowza. It was only a few weeks ago that we discovered Killed By Death Records, an MP3 blog consisting almost entirely of hard-to-find punk, power-pop and mod tracks from the late-'70s (it's not to be confused with the other Killed By Death, which was a long-running punk compilation series). This is great, scratchy-speedy stuff, and even though most of the bands' names won't ring a bell—The Swimming Pool Q's? The Screen Gemz?—it's well worth ripping through the site's archives, which also include some nifty old-school 7" covers. Some sample tracks:
Kursaal Flyers - Television Generation [MP3, link expired]
Boyfriends - I Don't Want Nobody (I Want You) [MP3, link expired]
MnMs - I'm Tired [MP3, link expired]
Killed By Death Records [Official Site]

The Swimming Pool Q's?
Memories of rereading Trouser Press record guides are flashing before my eyes...
I only knew them as a name. I thought of them as being in the same headspace as Guadalcanal Diary, and harking from Nu-Athens or Nu-Austin.
I'm OLD.
I once saw the Swimming Pool Q's. They were opening for Lou Reed at the Bismarck Theater in Chicago, back in 1984. I think that was the "New Sensations" tour.
Jeez, guess I'm OLD, too...
*coughs, leans on cane* Yes, young feller, you'll be like ME one day.
Oh wait we're the same age.
swimming pool Q's had a record out in the last few years and are still performing.
also, co-founder jeff calder was a priest for some adult swim DVD commercial:
