Here on the East Coast, people have been getting in a lather about Social@Ross, the five-concert, $15,000 concert series. But where's the outrage at/snickering about Lollapalooza's VIP cabanas, which ran between $32,500 and $75,000 for the weekend? I can't believe I'm going to defend Social, but here goes: At least the Hamptons concerts had food that was a step up from tortilla chips and white wine—and no Mickey Avalon. Jeez, was last weekend an overmoneyed-ass horse race or what? [Chicago Tribune]

  • Every time I'd see someone wandering around the fields with one of the bright yellow, very obvious "Cabana" wristbands I just wanted to grab them and scream: "What are you doing?!? It's 95 degrees out here, dusty, dirty and I just paid $7 for a Bud Light. Get your privileged ass back up to your full-service cabana!"

But maybe things weren't quite as nice up there as I imagined in my heat-stroked mind.
