In the comments to our earlier post on Doonesbury, one of our readers wondered if there was digital evidence of Billy And The Boingers'—the Bloom County-spawned, tubarriffic outfit formerly known as Deathtöngue—recorded output out there, and since we're here to serve, we figured we'd help out. Thanks to an intrepid flexi-burner in Norway, both "I'm A Boinger" and the Wheat Thins endorsement "U Stink (But I Love U)" have been rescued from acetate oblivion—we're just sad that "Let's Run Over Lionel Ritchie [sic] with a Tank" never made it to the recording studio, because that song really slips over the transom of social consciousness:

DUDE! billy and the boingers. one of my most prized possession is a ratty old billy & the boingers t-shirt that i got from a thrift store in san francisco for a NICKEL. i've had people offer up to $50 to buy it right off my back.

Mucky Pup totally did U Stink. I used to love that band in high school. Hippies Hate Water!!!
They even had a merch deal with Berkley Breathed. I had a Mucky Pup shirt with Bill de Cat giving the horns.
It should also be noted that the Billy and the Boingers version is different that the version that appeared on Mucky Pup's 1989 album, "A Boy In A Man's World". Aside from the tuba, I believe the vocal is different as well. It may very well be an entirely different recording.
WOW! just got my beautiful (though very likely bootleg) Billy and the Boingers shirt that I ordered off eBay in the mail yesterday!
