We haven't a clue why the members of Keane thought it would be a good idea to cover to the Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary," but thanks to Torr, we can all share the experience of hearing Billy Duffy's anthemic guitar lines turned into anemic piano squibbles. Just don't tell Ian about this, as it will make him break all concentration and blow his chance to make it into the 2007 Orange County Staring Contest finals.

I won't stand for the Keane bashing...I just won't.
Oof, is that stiff and lifeless. Sounds like a late night at a karaoke bar. Not that I'd know. I'm just guessing... No, really guys.
The Cult rocks. The Keane, not so much.
Um, this is great...
And the pun in the headline...? Totally acceptable.
I won't stand for the Keane bashing...I just won't.
THEN YOU STAND ALONE.
Band I hate covers song I love = ARRRRRRGH.
I am officially sad now.
So much for y'all allowing a re-imagining.
I think the Keane vocal exploration, which seems to take the lyrics to a less jubilant place than Ian, is interesting, if not as energetic. But the lyric is "the world drags me down" and Ian sure didn't sound like he was getting dragged the way Tom does.
That said, if they touch "L'il Devil," there might be trouble.
I'm a piano junkie and I kind of like Keane, but the only thing that's remotely okay about this is the Tom C vocal. Leave good guitar music unmolested. NO MOLESTARÉ!
Cool.
