Welcome to another edition of "Listen Without Prejudice," a feature that finds us spinning a globe, pointing our finger on a random region, and sampling some local tunes. We're heading to Japan again, and while we'd like to give you a proper set-up for this artist, sometimes, you just have to let a Wikipedia entry speak for itself:
Tigarah (born 1982 in Tokyo, Japan), is a Japanese baile funk emcee whose music contains elements of grime, crunk, and Baltimore club. She performs both in English and Japanese, and has a growing following in both Japan and the United States. She currently splits her time between her home in Tokyo and Los Angeles, California. Tigarah, by her admission, means "girl like a tiger."
See? If we had written anything like that, you guys would have totally made fun. Anyway, these tracks may be a little lively so early in the day, but we think once you get past the blaring instrumentations, you'll understand what it means to be a "girl like a tiger":

I love this section but... ugh! This second-rate M.I.A can't sing to save her life.
terrible. as bad as Bai Ling on that celebrity singing show.
*sigh* I try to give this genre of music a chance but I always end up sounding like my dad. "What are they saying? Why do all the songs sound the same?"
I thought "Girlfight" wasn't so bad but the M.I.A. similarities are pretty flagrant.
