Listening Station: The Appeal Of Peel

peel.jpgWe're pretty into the self-titled debut from the brainy Austin outfit Peel; it's rambunctious and fun, especially "Oxford," which has fuzzed-out vocals and a sun-kissed synth line running through it. Then again, we're suckers for any song that sounds like a 21st-century take on the Meat Puppets' "Backwater":

  • Awww. Peel!

    In typical namedroppery fashion (ha!), I'm here to tell you that one of the things I miss most about living in Austin was running into Peel frontman Dakota Smith at the grocery store on a regular basis. (;

    Seriously, though, I'm really impressed at how far Peel has come in the past year or so. (They have real publicists and everything!) Good job, kids!
