Compiling a year-end Top 10 list means making plenty of painful nips, tucks, and tweaks. And so, as we prepare our Jackin' Pop singles lists, we present "Stuck At Eleven," a daily look at the songs that came thisclose to making the final cut.
Tom Petty's Highway Companion was for the most part ideal Sunday-morning music, with its mournful, sparse ruminations on growing older, but the sly, yet gentle "Saving Grace," which kicked off the album, was a slow-burn rocker with a great slide-guitar crash at the end. We still don't really get the NBA Finals connection, though—maybe it's because the lyrics use the word "run" a lot?
