Stuck On Repeat: Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Has A Mac Attack

bthcover.jpgThanks to These Rocks Pop for nudgingly reminding us that we hadn't yet posted "Wind Blow," one of the best songs from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's just-released Strength & Loyalty. "Blow" features a hefty sample of Fleetwood Mac's hit "The Chain," and while it works perfectly with the verses, we can only imagine how much the group paid Buckingham & Co. for the rights:

  • It sounds more like the Mac feat. Bone Thugs... That is one hefty sample, damn.

But... HOW DO THEY RAP SO FAST?!?! I'm out of breath just listening to it.

  • Check out the disc's final track, "Never Forget Me.'' With its keyboard wash and manufactured melodrama, this might be "The Final Countdown" for hip-hop.

  • If Mick and Lindsey were smart, they'd ask Stevie how much she pulled down from that sample of "Edge of Seventeen" in Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" and then price the Bone Thugs sample accordingly. No doubt that DC sample made Nicks more money over the past seven years than she's gotten from anything but Rumours residuals.

  • I was at the HOB in Cleveland the other night to see Brandi Carlile in the Cambridge (smaller) room. Bone was having their CD release party/performance in the main space. Carlile was sold out, and Bone was packed, if not sold out.

Let me tell you, that was an interesting intermingling of crowds to say the least. The cops thought so, too.

  • This is the best song ever done by anyone ever. My mind is blown and I don't even know who I am anymore.

  • @dennisobell: I remember seeing a television interview with Stevie (my second favorite Stevie, after Mr. Wonder) where she remarked that Hole's "Gold Dust Woman" cover bought her a new pool.

  • What, no love for the Last Plane to Jakarta rave?

I Ain’t No Holla Back Theoretical Physicist by D’Aziz “Dolla” — Steve Spacek (produced by J Dilla) Dollar$ are important. Bison Dele, formerly Brian Williams of the 1996 World Champion Chicago Bulls, had a fair amount of dollars from his career as a literal baller.
