Glasgow's the 1990s is just one of the numerous pub-meets-club rock outfits to emerge since Franz Ferdinand broke big a few years ago; and while a song like "You're Supposed To Be My Friend," below, isn't going to teach you anything new, its up-and-down-and-up-again guitar line will stay with you through the weekend:

as much as i love franz ferdinand...this is starting to get annoying. these guys sound nothing like the franz. the video is pure velveeta.
either way, i'll be purchasing this when it hits stateside :)
1990s are both pre- and post- Franz. They're lead by John McKeown, who was the main guy in The Yummy Fur, which counted singer/guitarist Alex Kapranos and drummer Paul Thomson among its rank at various points of the band's existence. There's a lot of Yummy in Franz, and that's a sentence I'd never imagine I'd ever write.
I love this song, but didn't you guys already post it some months ago? I know I get my obscure Scottish band mp3s from Idolator.
This post over at Idolator reminded me, I meant to tell you NYC'ers: our friends from What's Your Rupture have brought Scottish band the 1990s over here, and they're playing Union Pool next Friday, April 6th. Their full-length is due out in May on Rough Trade. It's bouncy good shit.
