With 2007 shaping up to be the year of the reunion, we were pretty excited to hear that Too Much Joy, whose harmonica-tastic take on LL Cool J's "That's A Lie" and 2 Live Crew cover show pretty much opened the door for alt-rock hip-hop covers, would be playing their first show in 10 years tomorrow night in New York City. It's technically not a reunion show, since they never broke up, but we found it worthy of mention anyway, because all the interstitial untruths on "That's A Lie" (especially "Hey, we should have lunch!") still make us giggle:
Too Much Joy - That's A Lie [MP3, link expired]
Too Much Joy - Crush Story [MP3, link expired]
Susquehanna Hat Co. [Official TMJ site]
(Obligatory disclaimer: We found out about this show when we ran into TMJ lead singer Tim Quirk at a gathering of rock writers. Not that we haven't had Son Of Sam I Am on cassette for about 17 years, but we're all about openness, so we figured we'd let you know.)

I am so going home and searching for Cereal Killers tonight. Thank you, Idolator.
Considering I've had the line "We're... a bunch... of ugg... ly bums" in my head since 1993, it's a real shame I have plans tomorrow night.
Wasn't it TMJ who covered "U Stink, But I Love You"? Somebody dig up that mp3, plz.

You're welcome.
Everything you've ever said is brilliant. Anything you want to do is fine with me.
It still makes me laugh. A brilliant song from an age of brilliant songwriting. Sorry, an old fart moment.
