Welcome to the latest installment of the Cover-Song Showcase Showdown, in which we present you with several versions a well-known classic, and you decide which one you like best. Today's victim candidate: Mr. Mister's apparently-cooler-than-we-thought 1985 hit "Broken Wings," which appears on Clay Aiken's recent A Thousand Different Ways, and also serves as the background for freestyle rap track from Joe Budden (thanks to Nah Right for the Budden track).

Joe's Rap was superior in every way to clay's mealy-mouthed, convictionless rendering of a terrible but heart-felt song. However, since it wasn't really a cover, it was just him rapping over the beat, I can't give it the win here. By default I begrudgingly had to give it to clay. At least he sang the words.
The drummer. The fucking drummer. Dude holds his sticks so low and plays so limp it's like he's conducting the beat.

I didn't even listen to Joe Budden's version I voted based on how much I hate Gay Aiken.
I didn't know Bruce McCullough was in Mr. Mister.

both have caused my ears to bleed. damn you, idolator, i had made it this far without ever having heard clay aiken bleat out a note before. *shudder*
This won't be a cool p.o.v. to admit to but Joe's record is no doubt fiya but I ain't gonna lie, for what it is (MOR pop for housewives), Clay Aiken's joint is fine too. I give it to Joe in a vote but frankly it's apples and oranges and I wouldn't clown anyone who admitted they liked Clay's cover better.
Was Aiken sleeping or just sleepy when he recorded this?

It is my understanding according to many psychiatrist that people who are so verbal against men who are gay themselves are harboring secret sexual desires for other men, therefore they have to come out very strong against anyone they think might be gay, so that others won't guess their secret.
