Last week's news that Mint Records was going to re-release the early output of cuddlecore pioneers Cub caused us to pull out our somewhat dusty CD copy of Betti-Cola, which collects material from the Vancouver twee queens' first three releases, and which features the drumming of Neko Case on a few tracks. We were charmed all over again; nearly fifteen years after their release, Cub's sunny, short (even the Beach Boys cover clocks in at just over 90 seconds!) songs still warm our hardened hearts:
Cub - Cast A Shadow [MP3, link expired]
Cub - Surfer Girl [MP3, link expired]
Cub - Hello Kitty [MP3, link expired]
Cub [MySpace]

I've got a long-standing crush on all of the Cub ladies, especially Robyn.
June Brides, Confetti, Cub. I love you, Idolator.
Cub MP3s w/out "My Chinchilla"? It's a shonda, as they say...you can't beat an opening line like, "Satan sucks, but you're the best!"
"Magic 8-Ball" is also one of their best
holy smokes! you passed the test.
now, where's my lunchbox? I have to get to the copy shop before it closes.
OMG. 15 years?!?!? Has it already been that long?
Thanks for making me feel old.
