Eve's eve-r "forthcoming" follow up to 2002's Eve-O-Lution has been stalled yet again, because really, what's waiting six years rather than a mere five? Did the awesome "Tambourine" really rattle right out of America's consciousness already? [Billboard]

  • The album is on Aftermath, of course it's never coming out. They really should've kept working "Tambourine" for its sleeper hit potential instead of moving onto that non-starter song w/ Sean Paul so quickly.

  • Let's just add her to the evergrowing list of artists who constantly see their releases pushed back: Amerie, Mya, Mario...

The Urban world is really split right now. On one hand there are artists who can sell millions of downloads, only to see their albums flop. On the other hand the artists who could potentially sell well can't get a hit if their life depended on it.

The balance of hit single/album sales is getting harder and harder to get right. Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole or J. Holiday seem headed to have both, maybe The-Dream too, but in the process we lost a whole generation of artists, those who did well at the turn of the century like Jagged Edge and Joe.

  • @Aleb: Good point, but I really really hope you're wrong about J. Holiday and The-Dream becoming artists with big album-driven sales.

  • @GovernmentNames: I just think they're the most likely to, though personally I'm anticipating The-Dream's album.

Also, for big album sales I mean selling gold, like Musiq Soulchild and Lloyd did earlier this year.
Ne-Yo is at 802k copies sold so far for "Because Of You"; R. Kelly (who can't seem to get more than one, maybe two hits for each album) is at 861k with his latest record, which is already out of the Top 100. If they can't sell a million copies, I honestly can't see anyone else who can except Mary J. Blige and, maybe, in 6 or 7 months, Rihanna.
