As you might have heard, the Smashing Pumpkins have a new album due in July, and they've finally given it a title: Zeitgeist.
Really? After years of multi-poly-syllabic titles, you guys are going to with the wimpy, one-worded Zeitgeist? We'd come to expect more from Corgan, the man who coined such gems as Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and Machina/The Machines of God, and who originally wanted to release Adore as There's Adore In My Head That Opens To The Stares Of My heART. Granted, our titular suggestions weren't much better, but at least they had moxie. If this is the beginning of a more mature, scaled-back Pumpkins, count us out; we like our titles unnecessarily pompous and our flanger-pedal solos unbearably long, thank you very much.

I don't know. Dictionary.com defines zeitgeist as:
The spirit of the time; the taste and outlook characteristic of a period or generation
It may only be one word, but still pretty pompous.
I like it. It's hard sounding. It starts with a Z. It's German, industrial. Like something KMFDM would have released in 1994 or so.
I think we should wait it out. I mean, "zeitgeist" could stand for:
Zwan
Eradicated
Inner
Theology
Granting
Eternal
Indifference,
Sustaining
Triumph
or better yet,
Zootallures!
Egregious
Intestinal
Tracts
Giveth
Enlightened
Iditarod
Sleds
Tugs!
I vote for no. 2.
