The Rolling Stones winning "most successful music tour" in the most recent Guinness World Records go-round gives Reuters an excuse to list a bunch of wacky factoids, because we all love wacky factoids. For instance: Jamiroquai "performed at 35,000 feet in a specially converted Boeing 737 to an audience of pop competition winners," which I swear is the last time the word "Jamiroquai" will appear on Idolator. • which I swear is the last time the word "Jamiroquai" will appear on Idolator.

    Huzzah!

  • But we can still have some fun hotlinking Jamie Lidell, yes?

  • No list of silly concert-related Guinness records is complete without a mention of Jackyl. Idolator should repent by posting an embedded "The Lumberjack" YouTube link.

  • What's always fishy about any tour-gross record is that there's absolutely no limit set on the length of the tour, number of breaks allowed, etc. So there's always an apples-and-oranges comparison between an all-in-one-year jaunt like Madonna's periodic extravaganzas and the multiyear, three-months-on, two-months-off jaunts the Stones always bill under one name for bragging purposes.

Put it this way: It would be like Peter Gabriel wanting to call his first four records, all released under the same name from 1977 to 1982, one "album" and getting chart and certification credit for the four in aggregate. These marathon tours are not much less silly.
