Kenny Chesney's Just Who I Am: Poets And Pirates is yet another album coming out on Sept. 11, and he wants people to know that he might wind up sneaking in between 50 Cent and Kanye West and grabbing the top slot on that week's Billboard 200. So much so that he's willing to plead his case in an e-mail to Entertainment Weekly. Yes, really.
''It's funny how with every record that comes out, we're aware of the urban [competition], and none of those acts acknowledge that I exist,'' Chesney tells EW via email. ''Until I have that No. 1 debut on the Top 200.''
Oh boy. Well, Chesney's last studio album, The Road And The Radio, did, in fact, enter the charts at the top slot when it was released back in November 2005. And if he keeps slinging those yard-tall margaritas, who knows what havoc will ensue at the nation's Targets and Best Buys when that week finally rolls around.

Well, at least we know what would finally drive an earlier 9/11 out of a nation's consciousness. I'll remember where I was the minute I hear someone downloaded an album.
Another big advantage ol' K-Ches has is that his audience is probably a little more likely to head out to their local super Wal-Mart and buy the thing for $20 or whatever they sell blockbuster country CD's with 6 singles for.
I'll bet my (handsome) left nut that he takes number 1.
50 Cent - Divider
Kanye West - Divider
Kenny Chesney - Uniter

PS - No "Kenny Chesney is most likely gay" jokes? What?
He really should not have set himself up for the inevitable "butt pirates" jokes with the unfortunate title of the new album.
If Kenny Chesney sells more CD's than Kanye or 50, I will retire from country music forever.
@loudersoft: Are you Tim McGraw?
@rrnate: No, I took some antibiotics and that cleared it up.
i think Chesney does have the ability to grab that #1 slot. Especially since so many people who would be buying Kanye or 50's albums buy into that whole "picking sides" thing that's bogged down hip-hop for god only knows how long. Very few people will buy both 'Ye's album and Fiddy's. Many people will buy one or the other. More will buy Chesney's album.
Dammit, what does Aquemini think?
@rrnate: I'll do it!
50 and Kanye better watch their BUTTS! zing.
He's poets and pirates? Man, it must suck to have all those people living inside you.
This might be just the pre-release hype "Fiddy" needs, right? Countdown to Kenny Chesney mixtape diss track commences now...
I wonder if "Curtis" will challenge Mr. Chesney's heterosexuality?
"He love fucking dudes like a fat kid love cake..."
