I suddenly want to propose to Carrie Underwood.

One thing: Can someone tell those YouTube commenters--and Randy Dawg for that matter--that "pitchy" is NOT a musical term? K thx.

If Carrie Underwood is going to do anything associated with hair metal, I would greatly prefer that she appear as a vixen in a video.

Underwood should do metalesque power ballads more often. The only truly great moment she had as a contestant in '05 was '80s week, when she did Heart's "Alone" and totally killed.

Okay, so I FINALLY went and watched her much lauded performance of "Alone" after hearing about it for so long. Maybe it's because I didn't watch that season that I had no emotions invested or whatever, but...meh. I thought Gina did a better version of "Alone" in the pre-Top 12 performances this year.

I love how, as the guitar solo begins, UW introduces the guitar player, and we get a zoom on the bass player tearing it up.

Agreed, "Alone" was great. I think she should only do power ballads.

what totally suprises/does not surprise me is that her band pretty much look like skid row and countless other still hard rocking late 80s/early 90s bands.
its the rocker look.

this version is waaay sexier and delivered with much more authority than the pink/metal skool "18 and life" clip i saw recently.

    That was shot by a drunk with a camera phone! Terrible sound on the recording, and unlike Madonna, she's not even live on that guitar. Most of her great upper harmonics were lost by the cheap mike on the phone. She sounded thin and strained because of it.

    I'll have to differ with those who like Sebastian. The vocals, to me, on the original Skid Row disks were irritating. I got really sick of all these guys trying to be Steven Tyler/Robert Plant. For sure, I'd rather look at Carrie!

    Having complained about the sound, I thought it was a great performance once she stopped pretending with the guitar.
