Hey, look, it's Akon lobbing that poor fan off the stage at a concert in New York last summer after the guy dared to (allegedly) throw a frisbee at him from the audience. What an amusing flashback. Except for the guy who was slammed into the ground, of course. Or the other audience member he reportedly took out on his way down. Or Akon, who's finally in trouble for tossing the kid almost six months later.
Akon has been charged with a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment in connection with a controversial concert this summer in Fishkill, New York, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. He is reportedly due to be arraigned in a local court on Monday...
The Journal reported that the boy's mother contacted authorities and gave them her son's name, which has not been revealed. Police had been seeking the boy to see if he'd been injured in the incident and was interested in pressing charges. The Journal also said the uninjured boy refused medical treatment on site and left right after the incident. Akon's attorney subsequently released a statement proclaiming the singer's innocence in the bizarre episode.
"Given the information that we have reviewed to date, it does not appear to us that Akon was involved in any criminal conduct whatsoever," read a statement from the MC's attorney, Benjamin Brafman. "We are prepared to fully cooperate with any law enforcement agency that may be investigating this incident. We are confident that after a thorough investigation it will be apparent that no criminal prosecution of Akon is warranted."
Well, the camera phone evidence seems to contradict that assessment a little, Mr. Brafman, unless "spiking a fan into the concrete like a Nerf football" no longer counts as "harassment." Still, shouldn't the venue, and the security guards who let Akon manhandle the guy, also be on the legal chopping block here? Also, after all this do you think the kid feels bad that he didn't even bother to aim well enough to hit Akon between the eyes?

Brafman's other music biz clients have included then-Puff Daddy/Puffy [1999, for the club shooting incident with Jennifer Lopez] and Michael Jackson [2004, for the molestation trial].
This is so lame. Not that I know what it's like to get thrown off a stage, but... it's not like Akon shot somebody!
Oh well. Think the courts will forego the sentence due to prison overcrowding?
Akon's not going to jail obviously...but if I was the innocent audience member who had a 16-yr old kid hurled at me, sure, I'd like a little ju$tice for my troubles.
