And here I thought they'd broken up: the British outfit Swervedriver is embarking on a tour next spring, ending what their PR firm is referring to as a "10-year hiatus" and giving fans of huge, swirling guitars the chance to hear the big chords of "Rave Down" in a live setting. Here's hoping that this results in a proper reissue of
Raise, which is currently going for
$22.47 on Amazon—the kids today, especially the ones who are trying to get into that whole
nu-gaze crap, need to at least have the
option of snagging a legal copy of "Son Of Mustang Ford."

How cool. Being a youngin' and all, I've always wanted to see a 'real' shoegaze-ish band live. Unfortunately, they're not touring anywhere near me. :p
Heh, I saw Swervedriver open for Ned's Atomic Dustbin (yes really) in 1992. They were a bit boring. Doesn't stop "Rave Down" from being awesome though. (And I have those first three Creation CD-EPs. Line for first-borns start here, single file. Thank you.)
All I can think of when I hear/hear of Swervedriver is the PC-CD version of "Road Rash". Whoever says that the long tail is a post-ringtones concept clearly didn't play video games in the 90s.
Sometimes things pop out on the internet, and I'd like to thank you, Maura & your staff. You reminded me of good times, thank you.

radical!
My friend actually interviewed Adam Franklin a few months back re: his solo album...maybe this'll move a few more copies.
Hopefully the white dreads are gone but the awesome rawk remains.
I saw Swervedriver in the spring of '98 on a co-headlining tour with Hum, and they were terrible... seemed to be going through the motions. Hopefully a decade away has put some fire back in them. Wait... can a shoegazer band have fire?
