Most of Rihanna's shots in the video for "Hate That I Love You," her duet with Ne-Yo, feature the singer in her skivvies; no doubt that was a compromise that was struck after the powers that be realized that she wouldn't be able to move around that much during her video shoot. However, this breezy, bittersweet lament is still as good as it was when I first heard it back in May, and the sorta-noirish video—which even has a (not-very-good, but still) twist at the end!—is actually well-paired with the track, underwear modeling aside.

Wow! What a twist! I totally was not expecting to see that R. Kelly was "trapped in the closet" the whole time Rihanna and Ne-Yo were gettin' it on!
@DHMBIB: Oops...sorry for the reveal...
I don't know how this song can sound like anything but white noise once you've heard any of Ne-Yo/Stargate's previous hits. We've been force-fed this formula so many times in the past 2 years that I'm choking on it.
Still, I'm glad that Rihanna got rid of that hair helmet she had in her last couple videos so that I can find her attractive again.
@GovernmentNames: Yeah, but it's a good formula, and I must say, for a guy with only, like, three tricks up his sleeve, Ne-Yo's ability to mix and match those tricks into numerous engaging permutations continues to mildly impress me. (The producer-writers of the '60s - Holland-Dozier-Holland, the Corporation, Mann-Weill - pulled the same tricks all the time.) Ne-Yo/Stargate's switch from the warm electric-piano sound of "So Sick" and "Because of You" to the guitar-filigree bit here is a more-than-decent change-up.
