A characteristically understated NME is claiming that Captain Fantastic "has become embroiled in a child pornography investigation" thanks to a fine art photo by Nan Goldin which he had lent to a gallery exhibition in the U.K. From the NME: "A statement on Elton John's website states, 'Klara and Edda belly-dancing' by Nan Goldin was seized by police from Gateshead's Baltic Centre on September 20." But unless I've gone blind and/or I'm still delirious from the hip-hop hearings live-blog yesterday, I can't seem to find any mention of it on said official Web site, though the NME claims the photo is "still being assessed by Northumbria Police," mention of which I also can't find on John's site. In the interim, several other reputable sources have come forward with slightly differing versions of the story, while the AP has also named John the owner of the photo. I still like the NME's classy headline the best, though.
