I can't believe that there are people out there in 2007 who are still scared by Guns N' Roses' "Welcome To The Jungle"—in 2007, people!—but apparently a schoolteacher in Connecticut, who was staying after school one day when three teenagers took over the PA system and engaged in some impromptu karaoke, is still unnerved by the lyrical content of W. Axl Rose and Co. Or maybe she was just freaked out by the crummy rendition of the song that she was subjected to?
State police say a teacher at Booth Free School barricaded herself inside a classroom Wednesday when she mistook someone singing a Guns N' Roses song over the public address system for a threat.
She was working after hours and thought no one else was in the building. Then she heard someone say over the loudspeaker that she was going to die.
Six troopers and three police dogs showed up and found three teenagers, one of them a custodian at the school, who had been playing with the public address system.
Police say one of them sang "Welcome to the Jungle" into the microphone. The song contains the lyrics "You're in the jungle baby; you're gonna die."
The teenagers were cuffed on the ground for about 15 minutes while police investigated. They were released after being questioned and state police Sgt. Brian Ness said they did not realize the teacher was in the school and will not face charges.
OK, I feel bad for the woman being freaked out. But raise your hand if, given the opportunity to engage in this sort of behavior when you were in high school, you wouldn't have jumped at it immediately.

I don't think anyone escaped this situation with their dignity.
Awww...
That's adorable!
Is gangsta rap so debilitated that today's teens need to revert to 90s metal?
Wait, do those kids even know what gangsta rap is?
I'm more surprised that these kids actually knew anything about G'N'R. I supposed that love of that band is passed on from parent to child like baldness and alcoholism.
I used to be the voice of Auburn High School, so talking on the PA system was not exciting to me.
Sorry, that's The Voice of Auburn High School. I did not show that position the proper respect.
I always wanted to take over the PA system and play "Another Brick In The Wall". The Class of '99 version...
Actually the song contains the lyrics "You're gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
that teacher thinks she's a pretty big deal. i bet she's a lot of fun at parties.
And for some reason or another, Axl still remains relevant.
@rhythmchyc: Try '80s metal. And yeah, I was gonna say: Maura, you're asking the wrong question. Much as we oldsters here love our vintage GnR, what kid born around 1992 is singing Axl Rose gold around their high school?!
I mean, I don't care how much Guitar Hero III a kid plays, Slash hasn't become that cool...
@dennisobell: Hey, when I was in high school dudes were wearing Led Zeppelin shirts. Some bands remain eternal.
OK, this was released in the 80s, but they were just as relevant in the 90s.
Sorta.
@Maura
Or Maiden shirts!
@dennisobell: They learned it from their subsitute shop teacher, Mr. Adler.
Wow, we thought we were cool a few years ago when we played the opening of Welcome to the Jungle for finals week.
wow, this was my grammar school!
ppppppffffffffhh this is NOTHING! I used to do the sound and lighting setups in are schools auditorium for clients and the PA cables ran through the catwalks above the audience. We got a cheap cd player and a burnt copy of alice cooper's Schools out for summer, wired into the PA system, and next time someone used the system the cd player set on repeat would take over until the batteries died. We hid it so well that they had to hit the breaker panel to shut it off and it still played quietly on some of the speakers in the school. We left detailed instructions on how we did it taped to a air duct by where it was wired in lol.
guys, i was born in the 1990s and i love this song, also while we are talking about this i love because its midnight, stairway to heaven, Happiness is a Warm Gun. and Turning Japenese. Music today sucks. mainly rap. there is good music but none of it is as awesome as it was then. Love ya .
