Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani Sing On All-Star Orlando Charity Single “Hands”: Listen

Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani are the first voices you hear on new charity single “Hands,” co-written by Justin Tranter, Julie Michaels and BloodPop, and co-produced by Tranter, Mark Ronson and BloodPop. The song, a joint venture between Interscope Records and GLAAD, is a musical tribute to the shooting victims at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub that, in addition to Spears and Stefani, includes no less than the following: Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, Pink, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett and Meghan Trainor.

According to Billboard, Tranter and Michaels had been on the road with Gomez writing songs on her tour bus in Miami the weekend news of the Pulse shooting hit. Tranter said he then signed on as a volunteer at The Center Orlando, the region’s chief LGBT community center.

“I called them and said, ‘If I fly up, is there something for me to help with?’” Tranter explained to Billboard. “They say, ‘We need as many hands as we can possibly get’.”

He added, “We didn’t want to have any trendy electronic elements. We wanted it to sound classic, timeless and human. We want this anthem of positivity to be played for years to come.”

“Hands” follows the similarly star-studded Broadway For Orlando cover of “What The World Needs Now Is Love.” You can purchase from iTunes here. Per a press release, proceeds from the sale of “Hands” in the US will benefit Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center Of Central Florida and GLAAD.
