1) He's definitely not going back to the streets, but I can't believe he won't use his pull with Major Crimes to try to do some proxy justice. I think the guilt over his best student not being able to stay off the corner is gonna consume him.

2) I'm not entirely sold on Michael's turn to the darkside being complete. Despite his initation-providing hit-and his erratic outbursts-he always seemed to have a moral compass that just needed to be pointed in the right direction.

3) I know, but I'm still holding out for David Simon to have one of those David Chase-like changes-of-heart about his show's arc. Not that their voice is heard equally around the HBO offices, of course...

Brian Raftery

As the others have pointed out, Pres will remain a teacher. This is also, in part, because Ed Burns (one of the other brains behind the series) was a former cop-turned-teacher.

Just a fantastic, heartbreaking episode. Another great season of television. And, if you haven't already, this great interview w/ Simon on Slate should help tide you over until they bring back Season Five... whenever that will be.

Kluv

There's some good shows out there that I love. I love Lost. I love The Office. But there's nothing that compares to the television mastery of The Wire. I watched the season finale again last night, and you're right, there's at least a dozen major questions I want answered. I love that Marlo, owner of the coldest stare (and nastiest scar) on TV, is getting squeezed by my two favorite characters, Freamon & Omar.

And DAMN, someone give the kid that plays Randy a friggin Emmy!! That kid blows away 90% of the actors on all of TV.

cutshallow

yeah - in the Slate and Fresh Air pieces, the EP's said the only possible 6th season would be about the growing Latino presence in Baltimore, but they just didn't know enough about the community to do it justice. Oh , well - better to go out like Barry Sanders.

johndoe

1) Prez can't go back to policing the streets, cause he shot an undercover cop dead at the end of season three.

2) Michael, obviously.

3) HBO has already picked up the show's fifth and final season. It did so about a week after the first show aired.

repgovans
