Love him or hate him, Rick Rubin gets props for producing my favorite Slayer album and co-producing albums by Digital Orgasm and Lords of Acid.

deusdiabolus

Rick Rubin, Rubin Kincaid... No one's going to be able to polish Metallica's next turd. And as far as Linkin Park is concerned, ask the guys producing the "Bamboozle" festival in NJ whether or not Chester & company still have much drawing power.

theHL

Rick Rubin, Rubin Kincaid... No one's going to be ableto polish the next Metallica turd. And as far as Linkin Park's remaining credibility, ask the guys producing the "Bamboozle" festival at Giants Stadium about their ticket sales.

theHL

The article was careful to point out that Columbia had a strong year in sales - but that all the acts that produced those sales belonged to the people who just got canned last year, Donnie Ienner and Michelle Anthony. (Not that my heart bleeds for either of them.)

Basically, it's a situation similar to the movie business, when Brad Grey took over Paramount and realized he had no movies in the pipeline, so he had to acquire DreamWorks. The guys who took over Sony Music have no idea what they're doing, and they need to poach some high-profile svengali type to keep acts from signing someplace else.

Chris Molanphy
