If memory serves, I think Target and Circuit City had Neon Bible at $7.99 and Best Buy had 'em at $9.99, with a list of $11.99. What, I like to follow the Sunday circulars.

michaelpop

Never discount the value of a well placed end-cap or "hot new artist" section at Best Buy. It's like a cereal isle for kids. Placement placement placement.

beta.rogan

Boy, did I blow it on Arcade Fire - both when I called for over 100K last week, and when I turned alarmist the other day and wondered whether it would even make the Top 10. Kudos to the majority last week who called for a debut in the high five figures.

I'd love to know which retailers delivered their SoundScan data last and rocketed Neon Bible from #16 up to a final #2. Usually, it's the big boxes reporting last, which suggests - horrors! - Wal-Mart and Best Buy sold a lot of Arcade Fire last week (probably at $8.99 or lower). New thesis: indie-rock fans are cheapskates?

Chris Molanphy
