Anyone can download a recorder like audio hijack for mac and record anything streaming online- that program has been around forever. The reason its not popular is because streaming audio is shit quality. Honestly labels should be giving away shit quality mp3s of everything IMO. If shit is gonna leak might as well make it bad quality and hope for peopel to pay for good copies if they like it.

I used this a lot when I was covering some local shows. I'd say of the 20 or so bands I saw, maybe 4 or 5 had dedicated websites, the other 15 had myspace pages. myspacemp3.org allowed me to download the band's tracks without too much hassle. Sure it was low quality, but low quality is better than no quality.
