My point - although Dave has shown us his talent in fronting a "rock band", if he were to return to his roots, and drum again for say QOtSA - both tastemakers and I would delight.

Both moved on from said band to be the mainstay in a commercially succesful band with occasionally changing lineup (Foo, Wings).
Both have been involved in one way or another (Paul:producing, song writing, film scores, Dave: being on every album he could get on for the last 15 years) with just about every piece of music in their era.

...At least it makes sense to me!
