@Lucas Jensen: NBC, then owned by RCA, broadcast Bonanza in color so RCA could sell more color TVs. This is just tradition, and Apple isn't playing along.

Man, making Apple look like the good guys. Nice work! I've never heard of deals like that before the Zune. Do TV makers give kickbacks to TV networks? Of course not!

This is a weird stance to take, really. iTunes is the #4 music retailer. The first three are Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and (I think?) Target--all of whom have announced plans to scale back their in-store real estate for music sales (if previous Idolator posts are to be believed!!). Anyone remotely affiliated with the music industry that is anti-Apple has their heads up their ass. Apple is never going to stop selling music; the grocery stores are. These people really need to figure out who their friends are.

My favorite bit: He reveals this attempt to get a cut of Apple's iPod revenue in the same interview in which he says, Hey, we only made $15m from the iTunes Store, so what do we care if we lose that revenue stream?

So let me get this straight, Fucker...excuse me, Zucker: Apple's sales on your product are roughly the size of a G.E. earnings rounding error; yet they owe you a chunk of every shiny box they sell because, wow, NBC shows are just huge. Is that right?

This is some kind of fucked-up inversion of the old Borscht Belt joke The food was terrible! And such small portions!
