Live stage performance leaves little room for error, unlike the too-often pro-tooled music that's produced these days. Simon Cowell sees singers as one small piece of package to be marketed & sold, and Clay never fit into his vision of what a 'pop artist' is, because he's not. Clay's talents go far beyond most. It's a shame Simon et al can't be proud of Clay's successes instead of treating him like some cast-off. 8 tours, 6 million albums sold, and a Broadway role in his first five years look pretty darn good to me.

fromtheboards

Try to remember that many of Clay's older fans came of age in the era of "Hair!" (nudity onstage! *gasp!*), the Beatles visiting 'high' on the mountainside with Maharishi, and the lovefest that was Woodstock. In your honor, one "Claymate" offers this composition:
~~~~~
Though Claymate's ears are delicate
We cuss just for the hell of it
We often say a**
Even though we've got class
Cause our thoughts are seldom celibate
~~~~~
Guess we missed the memo that told us it was time to retire to our rocking chairs. As the line from the show says, I'm Not Dead Yet!)

As for our young Mr. Aiken, he sure can entertain!

fromtheboards
