Simon didn't have anything to do with putting Colton through to the top 24. If you remember, when Colton and Kyle were in the room, Simon told Colton that it was not a unanimous decision and that he thought that Kyle should be going through and not Colton. Maybe that's why Simon was so viscous towards him tonight. It was his way of saying "I was right and you were wrong" to Paula and Randy.

I caught the primary returns live on Tuesday, and had to work extra late both Wednesday and Thursday, so I caught all of this on DVR. Just finished watching the elimination show.

I can't tell you how much I appreciated reading this after-the-fact, and how much I miss not doing this myself this week (because, not available).

I hope next week is easier (it should be).

@extracrispy: Did you actually think Garrett or Colton gave deft performances on Tuesday? They weren't the worst (that would be Luke Menard) but not very impressive either: primary offenders of Simon's cogent comment about the boys spending "more time on their hair than their singing." (He'd have never said that about the women, but I digress.)

Also, has anyone noticed the alarming whiteness of this year's Top 24, specifically on the male half? Ruben Studdard notwithstanding, African American males haven't exactly excelled on "Idol," but this year seems particularly lacking. Hence my naive hope that Chikezie makes the Top 12.

Both guys deserved to go (along with about seven others). The girls are all about even, so it was anyone's game.

I love it when Simon pretends he had no part in putting people through to the top 24. If he had no shot at a singing career, why the hell is he here?

It's interesting that the two guys who got eliminated were the ones who didn't get any airtime thru Hollywood week. I guess America votes for familiarity, not singing ability.

Also, I kinda dig that Paula Abdul song. Though I really want to hate it.
